Surfest in Newcastle is celebrating its 39th anniversary this year, culminating with the opening event of the 2025 World Surf League, Challenger Series. As the largest surfing festival in the Southern Hemisphere, it attracts over 800 competitors from the Asia-Pacific region, all vying for prizes and World Surf League ranking points. With various surfing events spread across two months, there’s plenty of time to visit the local beaches and enjoy the action.
