The Maitland Heritage Festival is a free, fun, family day out. To be held throughout Maitland on Sunday, 15 June, the festival is a day of heritage and community celebration, showcasing Maitland’s rich history through engaging activities, games, displays, stalls, food, performance and storytelling.
Several sites will be hosting activities, including the Church Street Precinct (St Mary's Anglican Church, grounds, and hall), Maitland CWA Hall, Maitland/Rutherford Guide Hall, Brough and Grossmann houses and grounds, as well as Maitland Public School Paddock in Olive Street.
Make sure you visit each site to experience all that MHF 2025 has to offer.
Talk with an historian or a writer, see a blacksmith and stone mason at work, have your silhouette made, play vintage games and croquet, take a coach ride, learn morse code, see how cabbage tree hats are made, learn how to make damper, be entertained by folk groups and our local musical groups, free face painting, a children’s Treasure Hunt and so much more.
Food includes BBQs, Baked Spuds, Soup and Damper, Home-made delicacies, sandwiches, coffee, ice-cream, fairy floss, popcorn and a morning tea of S’mores cooked by the Girl Guides!
Ticketed events include a dinner, heritage walks, a piano recital and even a bush poets’ breakfast.
