Pawsome New Partnership Connecting Four-Legged Friends With Healthcare

intouch Magazine

A new partnership between RSPCA New South Wales and Greater Charitable Foundation is set to connect hundreds of vulnerable people across Newcastle and the Hunter region with affordable preventative care for their pets.

This $50,000 investment seeks to alleviate the financial burden associated with vital veterinary services such as health-checks, vaccinations, low-cost desexing and microchipping.

To celebrate this partnership, more than 100 people visited Hamilton South Community Centre to access free vaccinations for their pets.

Greater Charitable Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Anne Long, said the organisation is honoured to support the community to access these aids.

“Our funding provides services such as vaccinations, parasite prevention and general check-ups to pet-owners experiencing financial stress, affecting their ability to care for their pets,” Ms Long said.

“Pet owners are proud as punch when it comes to their four-legged friends, and we are honoured to partner with RSPCA NSW to ensure these animals are receiving the treatments they need.

“We all want to provide the best life possible for our furry loved ones, and part of this is making sure they are healthy and happy.”

RSPCA NSW volunteer and NGM Group employee, Rubi Stitt, said the community has been extremely appreciative.

“Pets provide so many benefits to their owners, and have an amazing impact on their physical, emotional and mental health.

“It has been wonderful to meet some of the pets and their owners using this service. They have all been so grateful.”

RSPCA NSW Outreach and Education Manager, Emma Davidson, said the program seeks to keep animals with their owners.

“We believe that a person’s financial circumstances have no bearing on the love they have for their pets, but being unable to provide them with appropriate care because of these circumstances might, Ms Davidson said.

“We are so appreciative to Greater Charitable Foundation for their generous support.

“Our aim is to reduce the number of animals being surrendered, as well as boosting the overall health and wellbeing of both pets and their owners.”

A further two community days will be held later this year in Maitland and Rutherford, as well as school education programs for both primary and high school students in the area.
