Port Stephens Council is proud to announce the local businesses who are supporting the 2026 Mayoral Academic Scholarship Program, helping our next generation of leaders pursue higher education.
Now in its 16th year, the scholarship program has helped more than 180 students achieve their study goals, thanks to the generous support of the Port Stephens business community. This year, 16 local businesses have stepped up to sponsor scholarships, providing both financial assistance and opportunities to build valuable industry connections.
Mayor Leah Anderson said the scholarships are about more than just financial support. “These scholarships give students a head start and show them that their community believes in them,” Mayor Anderson said.
“By partnering with local businesses, we’re helping students develop connections that can guide their careers for years to come,” Mayor Anderson added.
The 2026 scholarship sponsors include:
Business Port Stephens
Club Lemon Tree x 2 scholarships
Destination Port Stephens
Hunter Land
Hunter Readymixed Concrete
Kongsberg Defence Australia

MOJO Homes
Newcastle Airport
Raymond Terrace Bowling Club

Each scholarship is valued at $2,000 and, in previous years, has assisted students undertaking studies in areas such as Zoology, paramedics, architecture, psychology, engineering, law, education, and more.
“I want to thank our business sponsors for investing in the future of our community. Their support ensures students can focus on their studies while building networks that may shape their careers,” Mayor Anderson said.
Applications for the 2026 Mayoral Academic Scholarship Program are open until Wednesday 3 December 2025. School leavers living in Port Stephens and planning to begin university or TAFE in 2026 are encouraged to apply.
