Newcastle's young theatre talent takes centre stage this November as Hunter Drama presents three distinctive productions showcasing the region's emerging performers.
The month kicks off with In Motion on 16 November at Civic Theatre Newcastle, where Pre-Diploma students deliver a dynamic musical theatre showcase. Directed by Ali Hodge, the performance celebrates growth and resilience through song, dance and story, offering audiences a glimpse of tomorrow's stars.
From 20-22 November, the Civic Playhouse hosts DNA, Dennis Kelly's gripping psychological thriller. When teenagers commit an unspeakable crime and attempt to cover it up, their lies spiral into a chilling game of manipulation and control. Hunter Drama's Actors Company brings this razor-sharp exploration of morality and friendship to life in what promises to be a haunting production.
The month concludes on 23 November with Fragments at the Civic Playhouse. Hunter Drama's elite Performance Troupe—an audition only program—presents a bold collection of scenes exploring fractured friendships, memory, loss and identity. Each fragment weaves together to create a powerful theatrical experience.
"These three productions highlight the incredible depth and diversity of our young performers," says Artistic Director James Chapman.
"November is a showcase of talent that proves the future of theatre in our region is in very safe hands."
From musical theatre spectacle to psychological drama and experimental storytelling, Hunter Drama's November season demonstrates the remarkable range of the region's young artists.
