A home-grown rock band from Hunter School of the Performing Arts have seen their debut single professionally videoed after winning a Hunter competition, and are hoping to take their talents to the state stage.
STOMP, who won Bandwidth in November last year features students Thomas Gagliano-Buckley (vocals), Teddy Kime (drums), Jacob Thomas (guitar), Charlie Plummer (guitar) and Joshua Taylor (bass).
Their win makes them eligible for the statewide competition YouthRock NSW next year.
Bandwidth is a competition for Hunter high school rock bands arranged by HSPA, with major sponsors Tommirock, a local media production company, providing the major prize prize of professionally produced single and music video.*
Principal Tracey Breese has congratulated the band on writing and performing ‘Behind the Veil’, which featured in this year’s Star Struck.
“The talent and commitment of the band is there for all to see, even as Year 9 students when they won Bandwidth last year,” said Ms Breese.
“They have their very own high-energy style, and the work of Tommirock presents it to its full effect in the video.
“We have also thanked Flamingos Live for donating the space for the video.
“We’re wishing the band all the best for YouthRock.”
Since their win, STOMP have continued writing originals and have performed at local venues including the Musos Corner Youth Showcase, Silverchair’s Frogstomp 30th Anniversary show at Hamilton Station Hotel, and the Gumball Music Festival. They are also set to perform at this year’s Westbest Bloc Fest.
'Behind the Veil' is available on all major streaming platforms and recorded over 20,000 streams in its first few weeks of release. The follow-up single, ‘The Chance’, also produced at Tommirock, is set for release on August 15.
