Unique Interaction With Majestic Giants

Have you always wanted to encounter an elephant up close and personal, without being intrusive to its’ nature? Only 10 hours from Sydney, you can interact with these giant creatures at the Elephant Hills Jungle Camps in Thailand. These are the first Luxury Tented Jungle Camps in Thailand, combining the camp idea of African national parks with the Thai tropical forest environment.

Elephant Hills is home to the well-known, respected elephants of Thailand. During the amazing elephant experience, you will have the opportunity to get a look in on their daily lives and interact with the endangered Asian elephants in a unique way. This is your chance to get close with the adorable pachyderms, feel their thick skin and interact with them and their mahouts, the elephant caretakers. Chop, prepare and feed these special creatures one of their daily feeds, watch them play in the giant elephant bathe and use coconut fibres to polish muddy wrinkles back to a majestic grey afterwards. This elephant encounter is one-of-akind, an experience you will certainly not forget!

Elephant Hills can guarantee that their animals welfare is their top priority and giving elephants full respect. Elephant Hills has achieved a 100% rating for its animal welfare from Global Spirit (Animals in Tourism auditing). They are the first worldwide animal attraction to reach a 100% rating within the two-week audit period.

Elephant Hills offers 2-4 day nature soft adventure tours which are fully inclusive of accommodation, activities, meals as well as the services of an English speaking, fully trained, TAT-licensed tour guide.

With two distinctive camps to choose from, you will find them located in the Khao Sok National Park in Southern Thailand, approximately two hours apart from each other, close to popular beach destinations like Phuket, Khao Lak, Krabi and even Koh Samui.

‘Glamping’ at Elephant Hills gives you a proper, super comfortable bed at night, surrounded by one of the world’s oldest rainforests; where you will be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the jungle. That’s not all though, because with the Jungle Lake Safari at Elephant Hills you spend your second night in one of the only floating luxury camps on the planet! Your tent sits over the water for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Thailand.

When done correctly, tourism offers a sustainable life for domestic elephants in Thailand. If run well and the animals are cared for properly it offers a sustainable income for both Elephant and Mahout (the elephant caretaker). At Elephant Hills, they believe that this type of tourism will bring this amazing species into the next century.

With this mantra in mind for all of their activities surrounding the elephants, they have been awarded some of the most prestigious awards in regards to animal welfare.

There are currently around three thousand Asian Elephants in Thailand (down from 100,000 elephants at the turn of the last century) with a total world population estimated at around 40,000 – 47,000 individuals. Research puts this number as declining at around 3 % per year! Elephant welfare has been a high priority for Elephant Hills from the start, and whereas their elephants are well taken care of and happy, they wanted to do their part in helping other elephants in Thailand; both domestic and wild populations. This is the reason Elephant Hills founded “Elephant Hills Elephant Conservation Project” over ten years ago. The team spread awareness of the endangered Asian Elephants and support elephant conservation by contributing to help to keep the wild populations safe.

Jayes Travel has been lucky enough to sit down with the team from Elephant Hills; if you want to know more about the “animal-friendly” adventures that they have available contact the team in Hunter Street Mall.
