Winter is a magical time in the Hunter Valley; temperatures drop, and the school holidays are just around the corner. Along with the return of cooler weather comes the much-anticipated annual Snow Time in the Garden event, where you can experience the snow without breaking the bank.
The month-long spectacular begins on 28 June and runs until 27 July at Hunter Valley Gardens, featuring activities and experiences suitable for all ages. Just a short drive from Sydney, it’s guaranteed fun for the whole family and also takes much less planning than a trip to the snowy mountains.
This winter, get outdoors and embrace the spirit of the season by building a snowman in the Snow Play Zone, or go speeding down the 45-metre Giant Ice Toboggan. Refine your skills in the Ice-Skating Rink, suitable for beginner and experienced skaters. Experience all these wonders, which are all included in the price of the entry ticket.
For more adventurous visitors, choose your own adventure with the many rides adding a carnival atmosphere, tickets are available to purchase at the ride ticket booth. They are a favourite with both the young and the young at heart.
Experience a bird’s eye view on the 25 metre Ferris Wheel that overlooks the snow-filled activities, create magic moments on the traditional Venetian Carousel, or take a thrilling spin on the Swing Chairs.
Snow Time in the Garden activities are open from 9.30am until 4.30pm daily, last entry for Snow Time activities is 3pm. Entertainment and roving performers, including Little Scallywagz. New to Snow Time this year is the Abominable Adventure – an icy adventure through the Garden, collecting stamps on a map to free the Yeti trapped in an icy chamber.
Guests can also roam the entire Gardens, which have been carefully crafted and designed into a breathtaking winter wonderland, featuring ten stunning display gardens, including the fan-favourite, Storybook Garden. An experience sure to create those precious family moments, making a tradition to fill your family albums for years to come.
When all this action makes you peckish, keep warm and replenish your energy with a selection of hearty food and warming beverages to choose from, including Woodfired Pizza, Nachos, loaded potatoes, Gozleme, hot dogs, burgers and loaded fries. If you crave a sweet treat, you can grab waffles, fruit cups, fairy floss, or risk a brain freeze with the delicious slushies.

Snow Time in the Garden will be open every day from 9.30am to 4.30pm from Saturday, 28 June to Sunday, 27 July. The last entry for Snow Time only is 3pm. General Gardens are open 9am to 5pm (last entry 4pm).
