When you’re planning your wedding reception there are three main things to think about – the food, the wine and the venue. While beachside locations have always been a popular option, there’s no better way to combine those most important elements than with a wedding among the vines in Hunter Valley wine Country.

Tamburlaine Organic Wines have been playing host to blushing brides and gallant grooms for more than a decade, serving up a mix of picture perfect backdrops and gourmet delights that are guaranteed to please the most discerning newlyweds, their families and friends.

Tamburlaine’s General Manager – Wedding / Events Lou Davidson said the winery could cater for everything from a simple celebration to a lavish affair, including both the ceremony and the reception.

“We hold the ceremonies on our beautiful lawn, or in wet weather, on the covered waterside deck overlooking our peaceful lagoon … both areas are spectacular for photos, as well as being completely private,” she said.

“You’re welcome to have your ceremony here or go to one of the local chapels and just come here for your reception afterwards.

“The receptions are held inside The Lodge – our homestead-style air-conditioned and freshly painted venue that holds up to 180 guests.

“We built the function centre in 2001 and we started doing weddings here in 2003. The Lodge started as our new members’ tasting area, but quickly became a favourite venue for corporate dinners and weddings. As word of mouth spread, the bookings increased!

“The benefit of The Lodge being such a spacious room is that we can set up your reception to suit you.

“The venue is very private, and Crystal (Allan) and I work with the bride and groom to make their day as special as they dreamed.

“We are there until the last guest leaves to make sure everything goes exactly to plan. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile to make everything perfect.”

Tamburlaine is a privately owned winery set over 80 acres at Pokolbin, which includes the organic vineyard used to produce many of Tamburlaine’s award-winning wines.

The winery also includes expansive manicured grounds, which provide plenty of options for photographers to capture that perfect shot of the happy couple and their wedding party.

“We have plenty of beautiful areas for gorgeous photos, which means the bridal party don’t have to leave Tamburlaine to find the perfect photo opportunity,” Lou said.

“We have the water, lawn and vineyard all at The Lodge. This means the bride and groom can get back to their guests and the party sooner!”

Of course a wedding reception is only as good as the food and wine served up to its guests, but there are no worries when it comes to the quality of the menu at Tamburlaine.

The catering is prepared by renowned Hunter chef Matt Dillow from The Deck Café (and previously from the Verandah Restaurant), while the wine list is chosen from the wide selection of award-winning reds and whites produced by Tamburlaine onsite.

“Matt has designed a fabulous list of meals to choose from, and he is always happy to tailor a menu to suit the bride and groom’s particular requests,” Lou said.

“Our Reception Package includes canapes and a three-course alternate drop meal.

“One of the things people love about having their wedding at Tamburlaine is that we’ve got a large range of organic wines to choose from. Our wines complement the wonderful menus that our chefs have designed.”

Lou said they can do as little or as much as the bride and groom require when it comes to organising the event and pride themselves on ensuring every wedding is a truly special day for all involved.

“We’re committed to personal service from start to finish,” she said.

“Some brides want to organise all their own decorating and others would prefer that we took care of it for them. We can do as much or as little as they like us to.

“We only do one wedding a day so the whole property is exclusively yours. To make your day even more memorable we can provide a fireworks display for that wow factor while you cut your cake.

“We take great pride in making sure the bride and groom have all their special plans come together.”
