FRESH FOOD FINDS A HOME AT Metro East Newcastle

If you’re a lover of food and convenience, then you’ll be thrilled to find that the all-new Woolworths Metro store in the heart of Newcastle is now open! You’ll find Metro East Newcastle handily located on the corner of Hunter and Perkins streets (entrance Perkins St) with two hours free parking in the car park situated in King Street.

A Metro store is a little different to the normal Woolies we’ve grown up with over the years. With a focus on fresh and healthy food at affordable prices, each Metro store is tailored to the community it serves. This uniqueness is evident in everything from the product range to the customer experience and the suppliers they partner with.

Smaller in size and more food-focused than your regular Woolies store, the Metro concept is built around the belief that everyone in every community should have good food within their reach. Whether around the corner from your workplace or next door to your home, Woolworths Metro makes sure that you’ve always got the option to walk by and pick up something fresh to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and those cheeky snacks in between. Good food, right where you need it.

Metro East Newcastle has every meal (and everything in between) covered! Start your morning with a coffee while you shop with trained baristas ready to provide your daily pick-me-up whenever you need it. You’ll also find a selection of breakfast pots, yoghurts, toasties and bakery treats to go.

For an easy, healthy lunch, you can’t go past the freshly made sushi. It’s all hand-rolled in-store by our sushi chefs, using fresh, quality ingredients. And there’s plenty of other options available with gourmet salads, freshly made sandwiches, paninis, wraps and rolls and a great selection of grab-and-go hot food. There’s also a tonne of healthy and tasty snacks on offer for that mid-afternoon energy top-up.

Whether you’re cooking for one or for a family, coming up with new ideas for dinner can often be a drag, but shoppers will find plenty of delicious time-saving options in-store to take the pressure off with chef-inspired meals-to-go, prepped veggies and marinated proteins providing all the inspiration you need and delicious time-saving options to make your night a breeze.

And of course, you’ll always find all the fresh in-season fruit and vegetables, last-minute ingredients and pantry staples you need for every day.

The new store opened to shoppers on February 24th and provides shoppers with the added convenience of store pick up (online ordering) and Scan & Go, which helps customers skip the queue and shop in a CovidSafe way. Pick your product, scan the barcode and pack as you go. Then simply pay using the app – there’s no need for cards or cash, and you can even track your spend and keep your receipts in one spot. It’s a more convenient, contact-free and quicker way to shop with confidence.

The new Newcastle East Metro store has created 35 new jobs for the local community. This includes 15 local high school students with their first jobs and a mix of 20 uni students and mature adults looking for career changes. Why not pop in and say hi to the team when you’re next in the city – you’ll find them there seven days a week from 7am until 10pm daily.
