Placed to Speak Participants at The Place: Charlestown

The Place: Charlestown Community Centre is delighted to announce that its Place Based Abilities Program (PBA) will continue for another year, thanks to Australian Government funding.

Delivered in partnership with ReadyUp Skills, PBA is a free, inclusive program for young people with disability aged 10 to 25. Through weekly activities, participants have the opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills, make friends and become more connected with their local community.

One of the program's highlights is Placed to Speak, a participant-led podcast where young people share their stories, ideas and lived experiences, helping to challenge perceptions and celebrate the diversity of the local community. Throughout the year, PBA also brings the wider community together through inclusive events, giving participants a platform and demonstrating what's possible when everyone has the opportunity to take part.

The continuation of PBA means more opportunities for local young people to connect, contribute and thrive in a welcoming, supportive environment that celebrates their strengths and creates a genuine sense of belonging, while giving the wider community a chance to see just what's possible when everyone is included.
