A nurse smiles while checking a man's blood pressure in a room with a colorful mural. The man wears an orange and reflective attire.

This Men’s Health Week, Eire Constructions is putting the wellbeing of its workforce front and centre, launching a bold new initiative to support early health intervention and encourage employees to prioritise their health.

Under the campaign banner “See Your GP – A Check-Up Could Change Everything,” Eire is offering every employee one hour of paid work time during June to attend a general health check-up with their GP. The initiative aligns with International Men’s Health Week (9–15 June 2025) and aims to remove one of the most common barriers to men seeking medical care — time.

"I often reflect on the saying: A healthy man wants a thousand things; a sick man only wants one,” said Tadhg Kelliher, CEO and Managing Director of Eire Constructions.

“This month at Eire, we’re encouraging all our team to make their health a priority and establish a relationship with a regular doctor.”

The campaign is already earning praise from the healthcare sector. Dr Carina Smith from Heal Urgent Care, Eire’s Health Hub partner, commented:

“Eire is showing real leadership by prioritising the health and wellbeing of their staff and removing time and financial barriers that often get in the way of proactive care.”

Few construction companies in Australia currently offer paid time specifically for preventative health care, positioning Eire as a standout leader in employee wellbeing. The program is available to all employees—regardless of site or role—with no requirement to share personal medical information. All that’s needed is proof of attendance.

The initiative supports several key outcomes:

  • Early detection of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer

  • Encouraging mental health conversations and early support

  • Reducing long-term sick leave through proactive care

  • Supporting a safer, healthier, and more resilient workforce

This health campaign is part of Eire’s broader commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture. It’s another example of the company’s leadership not just on the ground, but in the lives of its people.
