Authentic Italian Cuisine with Lake Macquarie Vista

Positioned on the waterfront of picturesque Lake Macquarie, Awaba House is set amongst 15 acres of lush parkland with an Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden as well as a deep water jetty for boat access. The house, with its elaborate roof, leadlight glass windows and the art-deco interior was built in 1927 and has retained its beautiful period features. Awaba House is enjoyed by visitors for many reasons – but now there is a new (and scrumptious) reason to visit!

Thirteen years ago, restaurant entrepreneurs Greg and Jan Hopper opened the café, restaurant and wedding/functions centre at Awaba House. With its perfect outlook and thriving gallery, Greg and Jan have turned this idyllic location on the lake into the well patronised Café and Restaurant it has become today.

Julie Wood, their Manager of fourteen years, took over the reins in 2014. Julie’s depth of experience comes from managing Greg and Jan’s other well-known restaurants across the region including Mama Mex, Saltwater Grill and Caves Beachside Cuisine.

Julie’s passion for the restaurant industry shines through and along with her team of talented Chefs they have created a fine-dining experience that is wowing diners – Tuscany at Awaba House.

Chefs Aaron, Beau and Dan are passionate about Tuscany at Awaba House and have been enthusiastic in transforming the menu into one that celebrates traditional and authentic Italian cuisine. They have all enjoyed the experience of cooking in Italy and now bring their own unique touches to the Tuscany at Awaba House experience.

Italian wines and beers compliment the extensive menu and with traditional favourites plus the chef’s house specialities, guests are in for a truly wonderful dining experience.

If you love your seafood then the Pesce Gremolata is for you - market fish baked and served with sautéed greens, potato discs and topped with fresh parsley, garlic and lemon zest or perhaps the Scaloppina di vitello (veal escalope with mushroom marsala sauce) is more your style. Whatever your fancy – you would be remise not to finish off your meal with the divine Tuscany Tiramisu – created with Baileys liqueur and mascarpone cheese.

Tuscany at Awaba House opens every Friday and Saturday evening and bookings are essential – phone 4950 6366.
