THE GRAIN STORE | The place to get your hops on!

The Australian beer landscape continues to change every day and today the amber fluid has a far more sophisticated image, with beer lovers all over the world experimenting with new, innovative and interesting varieties, from diverse places and even matching them to food.

Owned and operated by Kristy and Corey Crooks, the Grain Store Craft Beer Café is a specialised restaurant located in Newcastle’s food and café hub of the historic East End and boasts one of the largest Craft Beer tap lists in Australia!

What was once a 19th century grain warehouse is now home to this smartly refurbished craft beer bar and restaurant with 21 taps showcasing a selection of some of the finest regional brews that include breweries like Modus Operandi, Stone & Wood, Badlands Brewery, Feral Brewing Company, Hope Brewhouse, Mountain Goat, Prickly Moses, Murrays, Fortitude Brewing Company and Hargreaves Hill – to mention but a few.

So whether it’s a German style pilsner, a European style lager, hoppy IPA, malty porter or dry stout, and everything else in between, it will be there for you to pair with one of their fresh and tasty food offerings. Try one of the house favourites - Buffalo wings with a blue cheese dressing.

The diverse all day menu by no means comes second to the beer and includes a tempting selection of share plates, quality pizzas, burgers, dogs and subs and meals that work together with a quality beer. This is a slick establishment that ticks all the boxes.

Kristy and Corey pride themselves on supporting the 100% independent Australian craft brewers and they put extra effort into supporting all the local (Hunter and Northern NSW) craft breweries.

Supporting the local market also crosses over to the wine and spirit lists with the focus well and truly placed on Hunter Valley wine and Australian produced spirits.

With its high ceilings, art deco tiling, clever use of timber sleepers and worn timber flooring, this venue oozes character and style. Black and white checkered tiles set the bar apart from the dining area with its charming collection of dining tables and seating, chesterfield-style booths along with an eclectic mix of comfortable couches and settees.

This is the perfect place to relax by yourself, with family or a group of friends, so if you appreciate really good beer, then pop into the Grain Store and be prepared to be amazed!
