Surfest in Newcastle is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, culminating with the opening event of the 2026 World Surf League, Newcastle Surfest Challenger Series. As the largest surfing festival in the Southern Hemisphere, it attracts over 120 of the world’s best up-and-coming surfers, all vying for World Surf League ranking points as they look to qualify for the 2026 Championship Tour.
