The Woman in Black

The stage adaptation of Susan Hill's novel The Woman In Black has been playing continuously in London’s West End for 30 years – and Metropolitan Players are thrilled to be presenting the Newcastle premier! Arthur Kipps, a haunted man, hired a young actor to help tell his story to his family and friends of his short time at Eel Marsh House on England’s bleak East Coast.

This tale treads in the footsteps of the classic ghost story, following the tradition of Charles Dickens and Henry James. It relies on atmosphere, a vivid sense of place, hints and suggestions, bringing a sense that these events could happen to anyone.

See it at The Playhouse, March 18–27. www.civictheatrenewcastle.com.au
