The game is afoot as Clue: On Stage arrives in Newcastle

One of the world's most popular comedy mysteries is heading to the Civic Playhouse this August, as Clue: On Stage brings the iconic board game to life in a fast-paced theatrical whodunnit packed with twists, turns and laugh-out-loud comedy.

Playing for just four days from 20-23 August, the stage adaptation follows six mysterious guests who arrive at Boddy Manor for an unusual dinner party, only to discover they're all being blackmailed. Before the night is over, the lights will go out, secrets will be revealed, bodies will pile up, and everyone will become a suspect.

Based on the beloved board game and cult-classic film, Clue has become a worldwide stage sensation thanks to its razor-sharp comedy, unforgettable characters and clever mystery that keeps audiences guessing until the final reveal.

Director Luke Aspinall said the show's unique blend of mystery, comedy and farce made it an irresistible production to bring to the stage.

"It's just a brilliant mix of nostalgia and high-energy comedy that audiences of all ages instantly relate to,” said Aspinall. “People love the familiar characters, the fast-paced mystery, and the fact that it's pure, hilarious fun from start to finish."

Rather than focusing on the murder mystery itself, Aspinall said the production invites audiences to become part of the game.

"We're really leaning into the fun of the mystery. I want the audience to join in, follow the clues and see if they can solve the case before the final reveal."

Featuring colourful suspects, secret passages, unexpected twists and plenty of outrageous comedy, Clue: On Stage promises an entertaining night at the theatre for longtime fans and first-time detectives alike.
