Surfest in Newcastle celebrates its 37th anniversary in 2023! The largest surfing festival in the southern hemisphere sees over 800 competitors from the Asia-Pacific region compete for prizes and World Surf League rating points. As Australia's largest surfing festival, it unites pro-surfers and locals in celebration of a great city, the people, and their relationship with Aussie beach culture.
With nine surfing events spanning six weeks, you can be sure to find time to visit the local beaches and check out the action. Alternatively, you can still watch from home through the event webcast, which ensures a global audience. Alongside the surfing, there are pop-up markets that run on selected days during the event, where you can discover handmade items and art created by local artists.
