Looking to kickstart your career, explore study options, or switch industries? Don’t miss the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Career Expo—the region’s largest career-focused event for students, parents, and now, the general public!

Being held at the Newcastle Racecourse on Thursday 15th May, this dynamic expo is hosted by Career Links and brings together top employers, universities, TAFEs, and training organisations under one roof for a one-day event packed with opportunity. It’s the ultimate chance to connect, explore, and be inspired.

From 9am to 3pm, senior students from across the region will meet with experts ready to guide them toward exciting futures. But the event opens to the general public from 12:45pm to 2:30pm, offering job seekers, career changers, and curious minds the chance to network face-to-face with those shaping the industries of tomorrow. Entry is just $5 at the main gate.

Whether you're a high school student, a parent supporting career exploration, or someone ready for a new direction, there’s something for everyone. Explore stalls from leading universities including the University of Newcastle, UNSW, University of Sydney, TAFE NSW, Avondale University, and more. If you're eyeing the trades or services, meet representatives from the Australian Defence Force, NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and group training companies.

Industries represented range from mining, manufacturing, construction, and trades, to healthcare, childcare, banking, journalism, fashion, and the arts. Big-name employers like Glencore and local councils will be on hand to discuss real pathways into rewarding jobs, apprenticeships, and further education.

“This isn’t just an expo—it’s a launchpad,” says Career Links CEO John Purcell.

“It’s about asking questions, discovering possibilities, and opening doors. Many young people walk away inspired by options they never considered before.”

“We are very grateful to our sponsors, without whom we would not be able to create such a valuable experience – The University of Newcastle, TAFE NSW, Avondale University, University of New England, St Nicholas, Glencore, The Australian Defence Force and the Newcastle Herald.”

Running since 2009, this event is a must-attend on school calendars—and now the wider community is invited to take advantage of it too. Don’t miss your chance to gather insights, pick up resources, and take the next step toward your future with confidence.
