Port Stephens Council is inviting community groups, organisations and creatives to apply for Round 2 of its Community Funding Program. The grants support projects that celebrate culture, strengthen community wellbeing and activate public spaces across the region.

Applications for Round 2 of the Community Support Fund, Aboriginal Projects Fund and Vibrant Spaces Fund are open from 1 February to 1 March 2026, with up to $6,000 available per project.

Mayor Leah Anderson said the second funding round continues Council’s commitment to supporting grassroot initiatives that make a meaningful difference in local communities.

“These grants are about backing local ideas that bring people together, celebrate culture and create places where communities can connect and thrive,” Mayor Anderson said.

“Round 1 showed just how powerful community-led projects can be, and we’re excited to see what new ideas come forward in this next round,” Mayor Anderson added.

The Aboriginal Projects Fund supports projects that celebrate, enhance and promote Aboriginal culture in Port Stephens, including arts, education, events and cultural initiatives that deliver strong community outcomes.

The Community Support Fund assists community groups and not-for-profit organisations to deliver projects, activities and events that build wellbeing, resilience and connection across Port Stephens.

The Vibrant Spaces Fund helps bring life, colour and energy to public spaces and town centres through public art, lighting, historical or place interpretation, and other creative activations that encourage people to gather and engage.

Mayor Anderson highlighted the positive impact of projects supported through earlier funding rounds, including initiatives that strengthened cultural connection, improved health and wellbeing outcomes, and activated public spaces through creative and inclusive experiences.

“It’s been fantastic to see how previous recipients have used this funding to create lasting benefits for the community. If you have an idea that can support the community, celebrate culture or breathe new life into a public space, I encourage you to apply,” Mayor Anderson said.

“These grants are designed to be accessible, and our team is available to help applicants through the process if needed,” Mayor Anderson added.

These grants form part of Port Stephens Council’s broader Community Funding Program, which also includes year-round funding through the Community Event Development Fund, Sporting Excellence Fund, Major Event Sponsorship Fund and Vibrant Spaces Micro Grant Fund.

In previous years, the program has funded initiatives that made a lasting impact across Port Stephens. Past grants have supported projects such as Christmas food hampers for those in need, Gathang Language, Storytelling and Dance program, colourful community murals and the development of history trails.

Round 2 is open from Sunday 1 February until Sunday 1 March 2026, with up to $6,000 available per project. For more information, contact the Vibrant Places team on 02 4988 0255 or email pscgrants@portstephens.nsw.gov.au
