Rediscover Your City Hall

It's time to rediscover your City Hall, where memories are made, minds are inspired, and special occasions are celebrated.

Opened in 1929, City Hall is one of Newcastle's most prestigious and unique venues and has played host to a vast array of functions over the decades.

It's likely you, or someone in your family, has attended a civic reception, community gathering or corporate event there. Or perhaps fond memories exist of a wedding, Christmas party, school formal, charity function or a long-ago debutante ball in the breathtaking concert hall.

While the building has stayed the same, recent refurbishments have updated aspects of the interiors and façade, ensuring modern comforts in a historical setting.

With its grand architecture, sandstone pillars and marble staircases, lovers of old-school romance find the grandeur of the venue perfect for weddings both intimate and grand. Corporate hirers are similarly impressed with the flexibility of scale, with six accessible function rooms available to hire.

Event dining has also elevated, with an in-house Executive Chef, dedicated Food and Beverage Coordinator and passionate hospitality team bringing you exceptional quality dining and 5-star service. Menu customisation is available for the perfect bespoke experience.

With a passion for supporting local producers and suppliers, event dining at City Hall also boasts a local flavour to savour. Hunter Valley wines include Margan, Tyrrells, Scarborough, Krinklewood, Vinden and Andrew Thomas. Beers are brewed locally at Steel City Beer Company, Murray's Craft Brewing Co., Hope Estate, Foghorn Brewery, Styx Brewery and Method Brewing. Cheeses are sourced from Hunter Belle in the Upper Hunter, and Glitch Coffee Roasters supply their high-quality beans. Eggs for desserts and breakfasts have been laid by free-range, organically-fed chickens on the shores of Lake Mac.

No matter the occasion, your event will be in safe and experienced hands with the Newcastle City Hall team. Our high quality service standards, professionalism and impeccable attention to detail will ensure you and your guests have the ultimate event experience from beginning to end.
