Maitland City Council has officially unveiled new accessible amenities at Maitland Park’s outer field.

Funded by Council, with $400,000 in funding from the NSW Government, this $800,000 project includes the construction of a new amenities block with accessible toilets, gender inclusive changerooms and increased storage facilities.

Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold says ‘the facility has been used by the community for 50 years and this upgrade has given it a new lease on life.’

‘Maitland Park is a premier location for many sporting activities including football, touch and cricket and this investment will provide user groups with high quality, accessible changerooms for the future,’ Mayor Penfold said.

Member for Maitland, Jenny Aitchison says ‘I’m a strong advocate for the Maitland community and I know that only a Labor Government will deliver the infrastructure we need for our local sporting organisations.’

Hunter Christian Coaches Football President, James Smith says the new amenities ‘will support players, coaches and supporters on both our men’s and women’s teams for training sessions and game days.’

As part of the upgrade, Council has also installed a new mural along the amenities wash basin wall as a colourful tribute to the many sports played in Maitland Park.

This project comes hot off the heels of award winning upgrades to the nearby Robins Oval and Mick Hinman Pavilion.
