Two speedboats race on a clear blue lake, leaving white wakes. Scenic background of green hills under a bright blue sky.

High-speed boats, jaw-dropping stunts, a 15-kilometre run, surfing and family fun will hit the city this spring as Council presents Lake Mac Action Fest.

Formerly known as Fast and Loud, the re-imagined festival will bring a wider variety of entertainment to the city on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October, while staying true to its roots of adrenaline and spectacle.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz said the festival is set to deliver an incredible boost for the region.

“This event is a huge win for tourism and the local economy, bringing people from across the state to experience everything our lake and city have to offer,” Mayor Adam said.

“Lake Mac Action Fest showcases the many ways we can enjoy our lake – from high-speed boat races and surfing to family-friendly events – there’s truly something for everyone across the weekend.”“We’ve invested heavily to bring world-class super boats and entertainment to Lake Macquarie, and it’s fantastic to see such a diverse program that celebrates both action sports and community experiences.”

Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said crowds can expect to see the lake come alive with speedboats carving through water and super boat races captivating audiences all weekend.

“With new boats, new set ups and more horsepower, the round one season opener promises a spectacular race-filled weekend with six offshore championship races,” she said.

The races will go ahead on both Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October.

“Spectators can get close to the boats and meet the drivers at the Empire Marina pit area or choose a vantage point along the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie.”

Meanwhile the Australian Formula Powerboat GP will run from 9am each day, launching from Rathmines Park.

“With explosive starts, hairpin turns and high-speed passing manoeuvres, the event provides continuous action and excitement for spectators of all ages.”

For the first time, the Action Fest lineup will include the Morisset Agricultural Show, scheduled across Saturday and Sunday.

A rodeo event will feature on Saturday evening from 6pm.

“This is a true country show featuring horses, dogs, cattle, poultry and goats, along with the best exhibits from local art, horticulture, craft, cooking and fresh produce.”

Let’s Surf Lake Mac will drop into Redhead Beach, with athletes performing against Lake Macquarie’s stunning coastline.

The Pro Junior Surf competition aims to provide pathways for young surfers to join the World Junior Surf Championships.

And everyone is invited to run, walk or stroll for 15 kilometres at the Fernleigh 15 event on Sunday 19 October and soak up the beauty of the former rail line through Newcastle to Lake Macquarie.
