Kilgour Art Prize

intouch Magazine

In 1987, artist Jack Kilgour passed on funds for the creation of a major continuing figurative and portrait art competition to be run at Newcastle Art Gallery.

Today, the Kilgour Prize is one of Australia's major art prizes, awarding $50,000 for the most outstanding work of art as determined by a panel of three judges, and $5,000 for the People's Choice Award (as determined by votes from the public). Exhibited artworks will be on show at Newcastle Art Gallery from 14 August to 31 October, with the winner announced at an exclusive preview on Friday 13 August 2021 at the Gallery.
