Feedback Sought on Trinity Point Planning Proposal

The community and stakeholders are being invited to have their say on a planning proposal for the Trinity Point tourist site at Morisset Park.
The proposal seeks to increase building heights and allow for a greater mix of tourism and residential accommodation on the waterfront site on Lake Macquarie’s south-western shores.
Lake Macquarie City Council’s Manager Integrated Planning Wes Hain said continued development of the Trinity Point site had the potential to draw new residents and tourists to Lake Macquarie, but this growth needed to be balanced with social and environmental impacts.
“Lake Macquarie is a growing city with so much to offer interstate and international visitors, and the south-west of our city is increasingly becoming a hotspot for this sort of economy-boosting activity,” Mr Hain said.
“This change to planning controls would allow a significant tourist and residential development, so I encourage the community to take a look at this proposal and share their feedback with us.”
In addition to increasing building heights, the proposal seeks to recognise the helipad, which is consistent with previous development approvals, and to rezone a portion of Council-owned land along the foreshore from ‘SP3 Tourist’ to ‘RE1 Public Recreation’.

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment are also exhibiting a Concept State Significant Development Application for Trinity Point concurrently with the planning proposal.
