Evicted! A Comedic Film About the Rental Crisis Comes to Newcastle

Sydney-based production studio The Story Mill are hitting the road with its award-winning comedy, EVICTED! A MODERN ROMANCE, across regional New South Wales. The film will be making its next stop in Newcastle, screening at the Civic Theatre on Thursday 30th March at 7:30pm, followed by a special cast and crew Q&A.
Dubbed as "The Castle for a new generation" by Gary Maddox in the Sydney Morning Herald, EVICTED! is a fresh and topical Aussie comedy that follows four millennial housemates on the verge of eviction. The film takes a satirical look at today's housing and job market, offering a relatable and hilarious perspective that speaks specifically to young people.
The film won Audience Choice Award for best Feature at Sydney Film Festival 2022 and was in the official selection at CinefestOZ film festival in Western Australia and at The Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) in 2022.
Creative duo, Rowan Devereux (Writer/Director) and Sophie Saville (Producer) have taken it upon themselves to showcase the film theatrically across Australia, as no distributor was up to the challenge. They also wanted to give the film the love and attention it needs with the aim to bring independent homegrown cinema to regional NSW and Australia.
The cast & crew are travelling to over 13 regional towns from Murwillumbah in Northern NSW to Wagga Wagga in South West NSW. "It'll be like Priscilla Queen of the Desert, except instead of a drag show, it's a movie about the challenges of finding a home," said Saville, the producer.
