Enjoy the Personal Touch @ Wallsend

Liane Morris

The Wallsend Town Business Association supports over 50 local businesses and works hard to promote them to the wider

community. This vibrant village community is blessed with a supportive population who generally appreciates that buying local adds to their pleasure of living, relaxing and shopping in their hometown.

Each month we’ve been focusing on one industry type and exploring what they each have to offer, and this month the spotlight falls on the flourishing beauty industry.

Wallsend is home to at least seven operators who all offer something a little different in the beauty space, including the

Newcastle Float Centre and brow specialists The Girlhouse Brow Studio. For nails, there’s Pearl Nails, for cosmetic tattoos and lash extensions, The New Law, and for relaxation, pampering and traditional beauty treatments, you can’t go past the award-winning Sienna Rae Day Spa.

Sienna Rae has been operating out of Wallsend for fifteen years and was purchased in 2020 during the pandemic by Julie Russell.

“I was a client at Sienna Rae and loved everything they did, so when I heard that they were looking for a new owner, I jumped at the opportunity,” said Julie.

Julie believes that it’s the personal touch that clients receive that sets the village operators apart from the big shopping centre experience.

“Our technicians know everyone personally, and our clients feel welcomed and part of the family. In the big centres, people are just a number. In Wallsend, you are supporting small business owners who are people just like you. Not to mention that it’s easier to park in Wallsend too!”

Julie believes that each of the beauty industry operators complements each other’s services because they offer different treatments and appeal to different demographics. Julie has recently invested over $45,000 in a new piece of equipment for the spa. The Divine Pro is used for skin tightening and toning, volumizing and resurfacing. The growth in her business is focused on providing better treatments and customer service with a focus on genuine results for her clients.
