Lit candles beside a festive sprig with red berries, set against a blurred, warm-toned background. Cozy, peaceful ambiance.

On behalf of The Palmdale Group, Creightons Funeral Service will host a special Christmas Memorial Service this December, offering comfort and support to those experiencing grief during the holiday season.

The Christmas Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 6 December, at the Hillside Chapel, Palmdale Lawn Cemetery and Memorial Park and Saturday, 13 December at Creightons Funeral Service, Cessnock. This beautiful memorial service brings the community together to show that we do not grieve alone during what can be a particularly difficult time of year.

The service will include music, song, a candle lighting ceremony, and a special Christmas ornament with your loved one's name for you to take home. Attendees are invited to bring a framed photo of their loved one for display during the service, followed by light refreshments.

Following a short break at 10.30am, a Grief at Christmas session will commence at 11am. It will be led by the National Association for Loss and Grief (NALAG), a not-for-profit organisation formed in 1977 following the Granville Train Disaster to act as a support network for people experiencing loss and grief.

"The death of a loved one, whether anticipated or not, is one of the most stressful experiences that one will encounter during life. Grief is our response to this loss and is a normal, natural and healthy response," says Lyn Parkes, Community Liaison Manager for The Palmdale Group.

Coping with grief at Christmas has much to do with challenging your expectations of the 'perfect' Christmas. Be gentle with yourself, trying not to expect too much of yourself or those around you.

Creightons Funeral Service encourages anyone who has lost a loved one or is supporting someone experiencing grief to attend this meaningful event. For further details, please phone 1300 130 955.
