Prepare to get lost in the holiday spirit as Newcastle Permanent’s Christmas Under the Stars returns to King Edward Park on Saturday 7 December, with a special screening of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Starting at 5pm, the evening will kick off with live performances of Christmas carols by talented local artists including The Vanguard Players, Flex Quinn Trio, Tim Harding, and Belmont Dance Centre.

Kids can get into the festive spirit with plenty of free activities, from a sustainable craft workshop (think DIY Christmas cards and tree decorations), festive face painting, an inflatable soccer target, and lawn games. And don’t miss the chance to snap a photo in Santa’s sleigh before the man in red himself makes an appearance.

Newcastle Permanent Chief Distribution Officer, Paul Juergens, said the community event is a wonderful way to bring people together during the festive season.

“King Edward Park has been home to a wonderful tradition of Christmas carols for many years, and it’s something the community looks forward to every festive season.

“The live performances bring the holiday spirit to life and really set the stage for an unforgettable night.”

After the sun goes down, the big screen will light up with Kevin McCallister’s unforgettable holiday adventures as he faces off with two bumbling burglars in the bustling streets of New York City.

Bring a cosy blanket and enjoy free popcorn as you settle in for the laughs and heartwarming moments of this beloved Christmas film, perfect for the whole family.

“Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is a classic holiday movie that never gets old, whether it’s your first or tenth time watching it. There’s something truly magical about watching it outdoors under the stars, and we can’t wait to share that experience with families,” Mr Juergens said.

“Christmas Under the Stars is all about creating special moments – from the carols to the activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We hope to see families from all around the region come along for what promises to be a fantastic evening.”

For those driving in, a free shuttle bus will be available, operating between 4pm-11.59pm from Bar Beach car park and Bolton Street car park – doing continuous loops every 10-15 minutes. See Newcastle Permanent Facebook page for more details.

Whether you’re packing a picnic or enjoying the food trucks on site, get ready for a night of holiday magic with Newcastle Permanent’s Christmas Under the Stars.
