The Grand Kyiv Ballet of Ukraine returns to Newcastle's Civic Theatre on 29 and 30 May with a magnificent double bill of Forest Song and Don Quixote. After amazing audience responses and standing ovations in 2023, this highly anticipated engagement is not to be missed.

Forest Song, the legendary Ukrainian showpiece, tells a profoundly moving love story between a fantastical forest creature, Mavka, and a man, Lukash. Set to stirring music by Mikhail Skorulskyi; it's filled with complex choreography that beautifully captures nature and true love's perseverance, reflecting Ukraine's own longing for peace.

Then, the flamboyant Spanish romantic comedy Don Quixote takes the stage. The courageous but troubled Don Quixote and his sidekick Sancho Panza embark on a quest for love and glory, encountering gypsies, bullfighters, lavish costumes and breathtaking dancers in this beloved ballet set to an inspiring score.

Founded in 2014 by former Ukrainian National Opera principal Oleksandr Stoianov, the Grand Kyiv Ballet has earned international acclaim, touring worldwide and regularly performing for royalty and dignitaries. Despite the challenges of war, they have even done charity tours across Europe and the Americas, a testament to their dedication to sustaining their art.

Don't miss this evening showcasing Ukrainian culture and classical ballet mastery. Two sensational works, Forest Song and Don Quixote, comprise an unforgettable program by the acclaimed Grand Kyiv Ballet. For tickets, visit www.ukraineballet.com.au
