Share Your Ideas For a Post COVID Celebration

My Place Grants is a funding program, which will support celebrations in suburbs across the city that are planned and delivered by the community for the community once social gathering restrictions have lifted. The program has been developed as part of Council’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery initiatives.

Before the My Place funding program opens later in the year, Council is seeking the community's ideas and inspiration on how you would like to see your suburb come together to celebrate through activities and celebrations.

The program offers up to $20,000 per project to groups of individuals working together and local non profit groups. Your imagination is the limit, a ‘masked’ ball with a twist, suburb versus suburb Olympics or a community celebration in your local park being just a few ideas to spark creativity.

The program encourages community collaboration to deliver celebrations that reconnect communities, build networks and create a safe, inclusive environment for residents to come together once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted in suburbs across our City.

Mayor of Maitland, Cr Loretta Baker says ‘we know that people can’t get out and come together as they would like at the moment, so we’re excited to facilitate the opportunity for suburbs across our community to put on a range of exciting celebrations that encourage social connection once we’re on the other side of the current restrictions.

‘I think what’s really great about this program is that the celebrations will be driven and delivered by the community, and they will be unique to suburbs across our City. I can’t wait to see the community collaboration and great ideas that the people of Maitland come up with.

’It’s all about your community, your ideas and your celebration.'

Share your ideas and inspiration at maitland.nsw.gov.au/place-activation before the online ideas and inspiration collection stage finishes on 11 October 2020
