Anticipation is building at Newcastle Racecourse….
The Hunter’s home of racing, events and entertainment has long been synonymous with quality thoroughbred racing, bold fashions, top-tier events, and the region’s most memorable social occasions. But this season, something even bigger is on the horizon.
As Newcastle continues to evolve as a lifestyle and cultural destination, Newcastle Racecourse is stepping confidently beyond the track and introducing a major new event to its upcoming calendar that is set to excite the community and offer attendees the opportunity to be part of something truly special.
“We have an incredible calendar of racing and non-racing events planned in the coming months,” said Duane Dowell, Chief Executive Officer of Newcastle Racecourse.
“These events will spark connections, create shared experiences, and result in lasting memories. Two key events we are incredibly proud of will occur in March. So be sure to mark them in your diary and get tickets.” He added.
Soundbites Food and Wine Festival
On Saturday, 28 March, Newcastle Racecourse will launch Newcastle Food Month with its inaugural Soundbites Food and Wine Festival.
“Expect a day filled with bold, hearty flavours, high-energy headline acts and the opportunity to connect with local producers of food, wine and beer,” said Duane.
Celebrity chef, Miguel Maestre, will headline an incredible range of culinary experiences.
Bringing his trademark energy, Maestre will join six local chefs who will showcase their best dishes. He will also present a signature dish at an exclusive ticketed trackside luncheon.
Attendees can enjoy food trucks and stalls, interactive grape stomping, and tasting sessions with local wineries and breweries.
The festival will culminate in a live performance from Hindley Street Social Club, providing the perfect soundtrack to close the day.

Give to Gain - International Women’s Day 2026
“From bold flavours to an event with heart, the other key event returning to Newcastle Racecourse this March is our annual International Women’s Day Luncheon,” said Duane.
Since its inception in 2018, the International Women’s Day Luncheon at Newcastle Racecourse has raised more than $245,000 for local charities. The event, held on Friday, 6 March, promises to be more transformative than ever.
Under the theme Give to Gain, guests will hear from two extraordinary women.
Natalia Hogan will share her achievements, including completing a 177km ultramarathon to raise awareness for youth homelessness.
Marcia Hines will also reflect on her remarkable career before delivering a powerful live performance featuring her unmistakable presence, vocals, and energy.
Proceeds from the luncheon will directly support the Samaritans.
Race day events that offer something for everyone
Alongside these key events, several Saturday and weekday race meetings will take place throughout February and March.
“We have five mid-week race days coming up, all offering free entry,” said Duane.
“Our mid-week race days provide a relaxed and affordable social experience. The Member’s Lounge is open for lunch to both members and non-members alike.”
“Couples can also come and celebrate Valentine’s Day with an elevated buffet dining experience in Chevals Restaurant for Prosperity Advisers Race Day on Saturday, 14 February 2026.
“Alternatively, if you are a university student looking for a day filled with excitement, our Settlers Arms Dungog Cup Race Day + Provincial Championships will feature INVADES. This dance party experience, featuring an array of DJs on the Courtyard Lawn, has become quite popular in drawing younger audiences to the races.”
