Get Your Sparkle on at Mistletoe

“Come quickly! I am drinking the stars” were the supposed words exclaimed by Dom Pérignon upon his accidental invention of Champagne in the late 17th century.

Christmas and sparkling wine simply go together… it’s like turkey and stuffing or Christmas pudding and brandy. One cannot be without the other - they go hand in hand.

Mistletoe Winery, a 5.5-hectare boutique vineyard and James Halliday 5 star rated winery on Hermitage Road in Pokolbin, is a small family owned winery producing some of the most respected and awarded wines, fortified, dessert wines and sparkling wines in the Hunter Valley. Now in its 28th year, Mistletoe’s “no compromise” approach to producing “true to origin” premium quality wines, has seen it receive hundreds of awards and accolades.

Mistletoe Méthode Traditionelle Petillant 2014 (left) A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes that were grown in the cool climate Hilltops wine region of South West New South Wales. The juice was barrel fermented and matured for 20 weeks in older French oak barriques, before being disgorged after nearly two years "en tirage". This is a virtually bonedry aperitif style which is perfect for festive season drinking and right through the warmer months.

Mistletoe Christmas Cheer Mozcato 2017 (New Release) (middle) This sparkling wine is the same wine as the 2017 Hunter Valley Mozcato but is especially dressed up ready for Christmas and the Festive Season and makes a superb gift. This is a beautifully fragrant, full of flavour, bubbly but not too gassy and not too sweet like most commercial Moscatos. A great drink for the warmer weather and perfect for that Christmas gift.

Mistletoe Petillant Rosé (right) In the same mould of the past ten vintages, this is a very popular Sparkling Rose that tastes like strawberries and has a minimal sweetness on the front of the palate but finishes lovely and clean. This is an easy drinking aperitif style that also goes well with Asian food. Serve Chilled.
