NEW YARRUM DESIGN A Retreat for the Modern Rat-Pack!

NEW YARRUM DESIGN A Retreat for the Modern Rat-Pack! | Hunter Valley NSW

Yarrum Designer Homes has a reputation for architecturally designed homes that provide the best of outdoor and indoor living. With high-quality inclusions and finishes that create the perfect lifestyle home, this has never been more apparent than in the recently opened display home – The Palm Springs – situated at the prestigious The Vintage in the beautiful Hunter Valley.

“The brief in designing this home involved watching the Peter Sellers’ movie The Party, so we did!” laughs owner Steve Murray.

“The design channels contemporary style with more than a dash of the 1950’s Palm Springs flair – hence the name,” he said.

Mid-century or Desert Modernism evokes a lifestyle of simple elegance and informality with an emphasis on indoor-outdoor living. Today, the style remains popular due to the interplay between sophisticated design and the stunning vista beyond. Likewise, the Palm Springs with its skillion roof, soft white exterior with accents using recycled timbers, soft taupes, bronze and stone seamlessly integrates the home into the surrounding environment.

This newly built and recently opened four bedroom, 3 ½ bathroom display home is the epitome of modern family living. The home is made to feel breezy, light and open, without being cavernous; connected yet separate – it’s the perfect setup for today’s family.

Everything in the design is orientated to exploit its proximity to the golf course and the views of the Barrington Tops in the distance. There are big, obvious elements, such as the generous spans of glass, natural timber, terraces and decks but there are clever little details in the sustainable design principles such as windows angled to catch the morning sunshine, afternoon breezes and glimpses of the horizon.

Entry to the home is through a central courtyard. Two large laser cut screens in a soft gold, form a transparent wall between the entrance and the living space, allowing both a line of sight and natural light to flow through.

The heart of the home, the kitchen, is nothing short of WOW! An open plan kitchen, with a large island bench in Caesarstone Jet Black and room for plenty of people to congregate around sets the stage. The hero piece on the island is the functional yet beautiful Brown Agate Concerto by Caesarstone. The amazing patterns of contours and striped browns from this unique crystal is certainly a conversation starter. It is a striking piece of art and equally alluring with or without the backlight on.

The Zip Hydro Tap in matte gold providing instant boiling chilled and sparkling filtered water is the perfect accompaniment to the stone. Fisher and Paykel appliances including a steam oven, warming drawer, pyrolytic oven and a 90cm induction cooktop turn this into a gourmet’s kitchen.

The island bench has a single sink and dish drawer while the working engine of the kitchen, the butler’s pantry, has a second full-size dishwasher, double sinks and loads of storage. A large French door fridge and freezer seamlessly integrates behind the cabinetry.

Step down to the main living room with its expansive high ceilings and soaring windows, and you know this is an entertainers home. The room is large enough to fulfil any of your entertaining dreams. The feature fireplace clad in Abyss, a natural slate split stone from Eco Outdoor, steel grey in colour with subtle, lighter grey hues, work in seamlessly with the large format 1200 X 600 Ekos silver travertine tiles but at the same time add an element of interest.

The large alfresco area takes in the breathtaking views to the North. Recycled hardwood posts along with Endicott crazy paving to the terraces and alfresco maintains the sense of design continuity throughout the home and is a definite kick back Palm Springs of the 1950’s.

With views to the golf course, detail, bold colour and elegance, set the tone for the master suite. A feature wall of Versace tone on tone jungle leaves mix with an exquisite satin creating an individual allure to form the backdrop to the king size bed.

The ensuite with heated floors, freestanding Kado Arc bath, dual shower, ample storage in the anodic bronze coloured vanity, topped with beautiful Caesarstone Statuario Maximus, all combine to equal luxury plus. The attention to detail and quality in all the finishes throughout the home shine through in every room. The walk-in wardrobe is complete with custom joinery from Active Kitchens.

“Complete with gold glass mosaic penny rounds, my favourite room in the house is the James Bond style powder room…….look out Gold-Finger!” says Steve.

“No attention to detail has been spared in this stunning home. What might not be apparent about this home is that it has an amazingly calm and relaxed feel. It’s an absolute treat to return to and have a wander through. I am sure the Rat Pack of old would feel right at home here, particularly on the gorgeous teal velvet curved sofa!”

You can visit the new Palm Springs display home at 11 Paperbark Drive, Pokolbin. It’s open Friday to Tuesday 10am to 4pm, or contact the office on 4938 1345 or Rob Waters (Design and Sales Consultant) on 0403 728 221.
