Tonight's game was a hard-fought match for the Newcastle Northstars who trailed behind Adelaide Adrenaline through periods one and two until our 3 unanswered goals in the third period put us ahead. Riley Klugerman's goal in the final minute of the game secured the win for the home team.

QUOTES:

Head Coach Kevin Noble -

Our Penalty Kill was strong tonight, with Adelaide unable to capitalise on any powerplay opportunities, “it was one of the areas we were good at tonight.”

“We need a lot better from the guys, we didn’t play up to the standard of our players that we have in that room, so we were lucky to win tonight.”

“It’s on the guys in the team to be consistent and be their best every night, and we’ve been inconsistent in our game. We have really struggled to put together 60 minutes of our game, and today we were fortunate and lucky to get the win.”

“A win is a win, but how we got it needs to be better. We can live with losing if we play the right way and leave it all on the line, but a lot of bad habits showed tonight and we will go back to work Tuesday and work on all of it.”

Assistant Captain Pat Nadin -

“We had a bit of a slow start tonight and we can take away a few things from that game. We will come back on Tuesday and work at training to reset before the challenge of next weekend.”

In regards to our successful penalty kills throughout the game – “yeah that is something we can take away as a win. We have a world-class centre man in Francis Drolet out there which makes it much easier, and it’s the little things from there that can build off.”

Captain Liam Manwarring, watching on from the sidelines. Still out due to his injury at worlds -

“It’s a good character win for the boys, and it was good to see it happen in regulation too. I don’t think it was our best, but I am proud of the boys for getting it done.”

“We’ve got some work to do this week ahead of next weekend, and the guys were battling tonight, but at the end of the day we are lucky we got the three points which is all that matters.”

Defenseman Ethan Hawes -

“A win is always great, but we expect more from ourselves, you know, we want to start better. We can’t go down in games like that, and we are a better team than that.”

“They gave us a good fight, and we know what we need to go back to training and work on from here.”

“We take a lot of pride in our special teams, and Coach doesn’t like them scoring against us on a penalty kill, so it’s something we’ve been working on a lot and we are happy with how we played defensively on our kills tonight.”
