Maitland Libraries Launch Creative Kids Workshops

Maitland Libraries are keeping young people connected with community, culture, and the arts, through a series of new workshops beginning Thursday 22 April 2021.

Young people of all experience levels will be able to get a taste of art, drama, creative writing, and musical expression during the Thursday afternoon workshops. Specialists from each discipline will teach techniques and tips to engage young people in creative thinking to produce their own art piece.

Creative thought encourages curiosity, clarity of self expression, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, and emotional development, all while having fun creative writing, performing drama, painting or drawing nature.

Coordinator Community Programs and Collections Alison Harwood says, ‘We want to encourage and support creative expression in our community. This is a great opportunity for young people to discover writing, drawing and other forms of creativity and find friends with the same interest.’

There are ten workshops in total which all be held at East Maitland Library, and children may sign up for as many as they wish.

The NSW Government’s $100 Creative Kids vouchers can be used for these workshops. To use the voucher please enter the promo code ‘CREATIVE100’ at the beginning of the Eventbrite transaction and then enter the Creative Kids voucher number. Creative Kids vouchers are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
