Innovative food and beverage operator sought for new creative venue in Lake Macquarie

Expressions of interest are sought from experienced food and beverage operators to run a new cafe/restaurant that will complement the unique arts and cultural experiences on offer at the soon to be opened Lake Macquarie Multi-Arts Pavilion (MAP | mima).

Council’s Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said that MAP offers a unique opportunity for a creative food and beverage operator to deliver an incredible experience in the City’s premier park, Speers Point Park.

“Opening out onto Speers Point Park with unprecedented lake views, the fully-licensed cafe/restaurant will quickly become a popular meeting point for locals and visitors to the park, especially in the warmer months,” Ms Hemsley said.

“This cafe will be an integral part of the visitor experience to the new facility. MAP is expected to attract an additional 45,000 visitors a year, in addition to the 250,000 visitors who attend Speers Point Park each year.

“We are looking for an experienced and innovative operator that will partner with us to inspire, inform and connect the community to art, but can also work with the venue to create a rewarding and memorable visitor experience.”

The facility has capacity for 30 diners and will be operational during MAP | mima business hours, as well as for hired after-hours events.

The MAP | mima will provide generous incentives on negotiation with the right operator.

An information package and application form are available at lakemac.com.au.

Submissions close at 4pm on Monday 1 March 2021. Successful operators will be expected to start by mid-June for the grand opening of the building.
