Get ready to dust off your dancing shoes and embrace your inner Dancing Queen – the world's most beloved feel-good musical is heading to Newcastle this October! Mamma Mia! will light up the Civic Theatre from 11 October for a strictly limited season that promises to have audiences singing, dancing and falling in love with ABBA all over again.

After 25 dazzling years of global success and over 70 million people experiencing its infectious joy, this musical phenomenon is set to bring its magic to our doorstep. From London's West End to stages across the world, Mamma Mia! has proven that great music, heartwarming stories, and pure theatrical joy never go out of style.

Leading this spectacular production is acclaimed director Erin James, whose impressive credentials speak volumes. With recent directorial triumphs including Chess (2021) starring Silvie Paladino and David Harris, and Superstars (2024) featuring Marina Prior, Erin brings a wealth of musical theatre expertise to Newcastle's stage. As Director in Residence at the Elder Conservatorium, she has directed everything from Cabaret to Les Misérables, demonstrating her versatility and vision.

Taking centre stage as Donna is the incredibly talented Erin Cornell, a Victorian College of the Arts graduate whose resume reads like a musical theatre dream. From playing Grizabella in the CATS Australasian Tour to Elphaba in WICKED in Osaka, Japan, Erin's powerhouse vocals and stage presence are perfectly suited to this iconic role. Her appearances on The Voice Australia and performances with The Queen Symphonic Arena Spectacular have showcased her remarkable range.

Producer Daniel Stoddart captures the essence perfectly: "This show is pure joy from start to finish – an explosion of music, love, and nostalgia that will have everyone dancing in the aisles."

With its unforgettable ABBA soundtrack featuring hits like "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," and "S.O.S.," this production promises to transform the Civic Theatre into the ultimate party venue. Whether you're a longtime ABBA fan or discovering these timeless songs for the first time, Mamma Mia! offers the perfect escape into a world where love, laughter and legendary music reign supreme.
