The award-winning team from the children’s hit TV show dirtgirlworld and Get Grubby TV have launched an exciting online subscription program called Get Grubby for Families.

In an effort to support the local community during what has been a challenging time for many, Cessnock City Council is gifting the subscription to all families within the Cessnock LGA, for free.

Designed for 3–10 year olds and their families, this program helps the whole family grow together at home. Subscribers will receive a monthly bumper email from dirtgirl jam-packed with activities, music, printables and exclusive resources to help families grow a family garden, make compost and cook the harvest, along with recycling fun, sustainable DIY, nature play and getting grubby outdoors.

To supercharge the fun, Council will be giving away a worm themed prize pack which includes joining Costa the Garden Gnome and scrapboy for a live zoom call, with a wormy theme.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said, “There’s no doubt that the past year has been tough for families and this free subscription is one of the ways Council is continuing to support our local community.”

Creator Cate McQuillen says the Get Grubby for Families program is all about learning and growing together as a community. “For the past 10 years, dirtgirlworld has been a proud leader in sustainability education and we are so proud to be able to bring this world directly into homes to inspire families through this huge time of change,” said Cate.

“Throughout the COVID-19 crisis we’ve witnessed a huge resurgence of interest in sustainable living and growing food,” added Cate. “There’s never been a more important time to support families on this path.”

“It’s no secret that dirtgirlworld is the happiest place on the planet – part of our job is to help children feel secure and safe in their world again. At the heart of it, we’re all about growing a positive and resilient future together.”

All families that reside in the Cessnock LGA name are eligible to access the program for free. To sign up to the Get Grubby for Families program visit: getgrubbyprogram.com/cessnock-families-login. Please use this four number code to join - 2325
