Outdoor gathering and hospitality bookings to increase

The number of people who can attend outdoor gatherings, restaurant group bookings and weddings will increase under a relaxation of COVID-19 rules.

From Friday 23 October 2020:

  • 30 people can gather outdoors in public spaces (this was previously 20)

  • 30 customers for each booking and 30 customers at each table at hospitality venues (previously the rule was a maximum of 10).

From Tuesday 1 December 2020, the number of people who can attend weddings will increase to 300 people. This will be subject to the 4 square metre indoors and 2 square metre rule outdoors.

Businesses must use electronic methods, including QR codes, to keep a record of guests contact details.

People are reminded to continue to follow the COVID-19 recommendations. This includes maintaining physical distancing and wearing a mask indoors when you cannot physically distance.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the NSW Government remains focused on managing COVID-19 and opening up the economy in a COVID Safe way.

“These changes will provide a big boost to our hospitality venues,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“As we ease restrictions and find new ways to get businesses moving it is vital that customers and venues continue to be COVID Safe.”
