CLARITY… The State of Being Clear and Transparent

Clarity Imaging is an independent, locally owned and operated Radiology practice providing personalised imaging services that are individually tailored to patients of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, with clinics in Cessnock and Waratah.

The first clinic at 1 Cessnock Street, Cessnock, was opened six years ago by a group of Radiologists from the John Hunter Hospital who wanted to bring their sub-speciality expertise from the hospital to the community, including musculoskeletal/sports imaging, pain management and paediatric radiology.

After successfully increasing the much-needed level of medical services and radiology expertise to the Hunter Valley, a new flagship clinic was opened in January 2019 in the Newcastle area.

Clarity Waratah is located on the ground floor at 182 Christo Road, Waratah, the site of the Newcastle Eye Hospital redevelopment. It is a brand new clinic with a welcoming modern and tasteful fit-out of the highest specifications. There is ample off-street parking, is conveniently serviced by a bus stop and easy access for wheelchairs.

Comprehensive radiology services are provided at Clarity Waratah with new state-of-the-art equipment including digital X-ray, dental imaging, ultrasound and dual-energy CT. The GE dual-energy CT scanner is amongst the first of its kind in Australia and enables the radiologists to analyse and diagnose with greater accuracy and confidence pathologies such as tumours, bone injuries, gout and renal stones. Furthermore, such advanced technology is at no extra cost to patients as there is a belief at Clarity that all patients should have access to the highest standard of diagnostic imaging and hence all Medicare-eligible X-ray, CT and ultrasound examinations are bulk-billed.

Also performed and bulk-billed at the practice are interventional procedures such as ultrasound-guided injections and CT guided spinal injections for pain relief, along with fine needle and core biopsies.

Clarity Waratah also offers MRI scanning. The MRI suite has a backlit LED ceiling which gives the illusion of lying under a leafy tree on a sunny day! Along with the widest tunnel diameter available, the MRI scanner is well suited to those patients who suffer from claustrophobia, or have felt so previously in other scanners. The team at Clarity aim to provide the most comfortable and relaxing patient experience, not just in the MRI suite, but throughout the entire clinic. Unfortunately, due to Medicare MRI licensing restrictions, MRI Scans are unable to be bulk-billed, and there is a small out-of-pocket fee.

Clarity Cessnock is conveniently located with plenty of on and off-street parking. Services are also extensive, including digital x-ray, dental imaging, ultrasound, CT, bone densitometry, and ultrasound or CT guided injections. Pensioners and health care card holders are bulk-billed for all Medicare-eligible procedures. A small out-of-pocket fee applies to some ultrasound examinations for non-concession cardholders. The knowledgeable staff will explain any costs involved at the time of booking your appointment.

Clarity Imaging accept any radiology referral, so be sure to book your next appointment with Clarity! Just call the friendly reception staff on 4990 2655. Most scans or procedures can be performed within 24 hours of booking and with results back to your referrer the same day; there has never been a more efficient and friendly radiology service.

Their mission is to provide your referrer with crystal clear images and an insightful, prompt diagnosis so that they can provide the best possible treatment for you, their patient.
