$100,000 on the table for Lake Mac events

Organisers of minor and major events that create, build and support communities in Lake Macquarie are set to receive a boost thanks to $100,000 in upcoming Lake Macquarie City Council grants.

Applications are now open for the latest round of Council’s Event Funding Program, with submissions closing 23 September.

Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said individual grants worth up to $8000 were available.

“This funding gives hundreds of thousands of people the opportunity to take part in creative and meaningful events. We hope this will bring together the community and attract visitors,” Ms Hemsley said.

“Belmont Surf Life Saving Club, Newcastle Jets Football Club, and Lake Macquarie Music Society were among the organisations whose events we helped fund in the last round.”

“Demand for event funding is high, so strong applications are vital.”

A grant writing online workshop is scheduled for Wednesday 17 August at 5pm, providing useful tips and techniques for prospective applicants. To book and receive a link, please email events@lakemac.nsw.gov.au.
