Northern NSW Football is delighted to announce 10,000 free footballs will roll out across northern NSW ahead of the start of the 2021 Community Football season.

The roll out of the free footballs kick starts Newcastle Permanent’s extension of their partnership with NNSWF, which has been extended to a 14th season.

NNSWF CEO David Eland said having Newcastle Permanent as major sponsor of community football was critical to NNSWF considering the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and assisted the governing body to keep increases to player levies nominal in 2021.

“We understand that many families have experienced difficulties and we are committed to ensuring that the region’s largest sport remains affordable, fun and safe,” Eland said.

“Newcastle Permanent’s support continues to ensure that our game remains accessible and young players start the season with a ball at their feet.”

Newcastle Permanent Chief Customer Experience Delivery Officer Paul Juergens said the organisation were delighted to help young footballers across northern NSW.

“We provide the footballs annually to entry-level players aged seven and under to help them start their season. Since our partnership commenced in 2008 we’ve provided more than 110,000 footballs to entry level players,” Juergens said.

“These footballs provide a fun way for children to stay connected and practice their footwork when at home.”

As well as encouraging young players to register with their local club and join a team, the free footballs complement the overall affordability of the game for entry level players, especially if parents take advantage of the NSW government’s Active Kids Voucher.

Juergens said Newcastle Permanent remained committed to supporting local community initiatives.

“We’re thrilled to be going into our 14th year of partnership with Northern NSW Football which offers an inclusive and accessible sport for girls, boys, women and men alike,” Juergens said.

“We wish all young players, new and returning, all the best for the upcoming season.”
