The community is invited to celebrate this National Reconciliation Week 2021 at Cessnock City Libraries with some fabulous free kids’ workshops presented by Speaking in Colour.

Speaking in Colour are a Hunter Valley based team of local Indigenous artists and educators who teach children about Aboriginal dance, weaving and art appreciation.

The cultural workshops in celebration of Reconciliation Week will happen at both Cessnock and Kurri Kurri library branches.

Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters said the workshops are a great way to introduce kids to the concept of reconciliation and the importance of Indigenous culture.

“The workshops are a wonderful opportunity for the community to engage in the spirit of reconciliation through shared cultural experiences.”

“Our regular library Storytime sessions for kids will also explore the theme of reconciliation during the week,” she said.
