Share your ideas on Lake Mac’s parks and playgrounds
Lake Macquarie City Council’s Parks and Play Strategy is set to improve the way we use open spaces in our City.
This first phase of consultation is an important step in preparing the draft Strategy, which will provide a framework on how Council will manage and develop the communities much enjoyed spaces for relaxation, picnics, informal exercise and play.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser is looking forward to hearing about the ways we can improve our recreational areas.
“Our City has over 140 parks and 114 playgrounds and we want to make sure we are delivering the best possible facilities to the community. We want to know how residents are using these green spaces and ways we can improve them for the future,” Cr Fraser said.
Council’s Manager Asset Management Brendan Callander said Council places enormous value on our parks and playgrounds and the vital role they play in people’s lives by providing relaxation and recreational opportunities.
“Everyone in our community utilises our parks and playgrounds,” Mr Callander said.
“Whether you are a young family enjoying a local playground, an individual who uses the space to exercise or a group of friends having a picnic in the park. We want to hear from you on how we can be better.”
Council is also encouraging the community to share their opinions by taking a photo in their favourite park or playground. Using the hashtag #letsplayinLakeMac residents can post the picture to their Instagram with a caption on what they love about their local park.
Everyone who provides feedback during this consultation whether it’s posting a picture or providing feedback on the project page will go in the draw to win an iPad or Galaxy tab. Consultation for the project will be open until 11 December 2020.
