$80,000 in event funding up for grabs
Lake Macquarie City Council will offer more than $80,000 in community event funding to help celebrate our community and build the City’s culture and identity.
Round Two of Council’s 2020 events funding is open until 1 November, with grants available across three categories.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser said individual grants of up to $2000 were available for local events and celebrations, up to $10,000 for community events and up to $20,000 for sponsored events and festivals.
“This program aims to fund meaningful, creative, high-quality events for our community and visitors to Lake Macquarie,” Cr Fraser said.
“We will prioritise events that are engaging, surprising and entertaining, that are attractive to visitors and that have potential to inject money into the local economy.”
Council offers funding biannually, in June and October and will help kickstart the event industry after a tough year, which has been significantly impacted by COVID-19 restrictions.
Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said the application process is competitive, and putting together a strong application takes time and energy.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing some exciting applications come through. We know the event industry has taken a hit, but hopefully this funding will reinvigorate event organisers and offer a helping hand to get events up and running,” Ms Hemsley said.
“The best advice I have for applying, is to read our funding guidelines carefully and demonstrate how your event will meet our assessment criteria.”
