Over $1 million in funding earmarked five key projects


Cessnock City Council has endorsed five key projects to be undertaken through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program where Council is eligible to receive $1,065,399 in funding.

 

The LRCI funding is available for local road and community infrastructure projects that involve the construction, maintenance and/or improvements to council-owned assets that are accessible to the public.

The following projects were endorsed by Council at its meeting on Wednesday 15 July 2020 and the works programs will now be submitted for approval:

  • Weston Public School Zone Precinct Upgrade - $150,000

  • Branxton Town Centre Upgrade Stage 3 - $330,000

  • Government Road, Weston Road Pavement Upgrade – $300,399

  • Cessnock Performing Arts Centre Back Stage Access Project - $200,000Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre Improvements - $85,000

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said he looks forward to seeing these projects get underway.

“Each of these projects will benefit our local community in some way, whether it be improved accessibility, visual amenity or safety benefits.”
