COVID-19 Update: Cancelled and Postponed Events in the Hunter


On March 11th The World Health Organization ( WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic. The Federal and State Governments have announced the recommendation that all non-essential events with 500+ people should be cancelled from Monday 16th March. A number of Hunter events have been cancelled or postponed amid health concerns for the spread of coronavirus.

Hunter Ice Skating Stadium- CLOSED

Effective from midday on Monday 23rd of March, Hunter Ice Skating Stadium will be closed to the public, and all regular programs including our Learn to Play and Learn to Skate programs will be suspended indefinitely. For more information visit: www.HISS.com.au

Lake Macquarie City Council Update:

Given the current advice from NSW Health, Lake Macquarie City Council have closed all four patrolled beaches, six Swim Centres, Community Halls, MAC – Museum of Art and Culture, Swansea Centre, the Visitor Information Centre and Lake Mac Libraries. For more information visit: www.lakemac.com.au

Planet Fitness Newcastle- CLOSED

Newcastle Writers Festival - CANCELLED

Due to government advice about the impact of COVID-19 and events, the Newcastle Writers Festival 2020 has been cancelled and all tickets will be refunded. The health and safety of the writers, audiences and volunteers is top priority.

Hunter Valley Gardens Easter Celebrations - CANCELLED

While we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely, and on Government advice, Hunter Valley Gardens will remain open to the public. Unfortunately, in the interest of public health and safety, we will be cancelling the upcoming planned Easter celebrations and are postponing our Mega Creatures event until the September school holidays.
