Construction at Maitland Hospital is well underway with the first concrete pour for the main building occurring today.

Member of the Legislative Council, Taylor Martin MLC said that the concrete pour is a significant milestone in the NSW Government’s $470 million new Maitland Hospital development.

“Today we will see the ground floor slab start to form with 450m3 of concrete poured – the equivalent of eight backyard swimming pools,” Mr Martin said.

“Over the coming months, locals will start to see the hospital take shape.

“This is an extremely exciting time for Maitland and the surrounding community as the project reaches another milestone.”

The new Maitland Hospital is on track to open in early 2022.  It will deliver a range of services and increased capability in the form of beds and treatment spaces to better meet the changing healthcare needs of the community.

The project team, consisting of Multiplex Constructions, CBRE Project Managers and Health Infrastructure, are working closely with the Hunter New England Local Health District to ensure the new hospital is equipped to meet the current and future health challenges of the region.
