Lake Mac’s Endless Summer is back for its annual pool party – an afternoon of swimming, sunbathing and spending time with friends.
Organised by the Lake Macquarie Youth Advisory Council and taking place this Sunday 23 February, the pool party will feature a mocktail bar and free barbeque provided by Allambi care to keep the summer vibes alive.
“This year is going to be bigger and better,” Lake Macquarie Youth Advisory Council Chairperson Dylan Shoesmith said.
“We’ve moved to Speers Point Swim Centre, and we’ve organised the perfect event for Lake Mac’s young people to come spend time with friends, relax and have fun.”
For those interested in more than sunbathing, Council’s inflatable ‘Aquatic Challenger’ obstacle course will be up and running with prize giveaways throughout the day.
“We want to celebrate the beautiful lake views and create a feeling of being on holidays right in your own backyard,” Mr Shoesmith said.
“Speers Point Swim Centre has recently updated its facilities with undercover sails over the swimming area so you can have fun and be sun-safe all at once.”
Local artists will be performing at the event, with sets from Kaitlyn Simm, Sarah Christine and Makaela Grace.
“It’s really exciting to have some of the community’s most talented young people, performing for their peers. The musicians will play a wide range of originals and cover songs and will be the backdrop to a perfect summer day,” Mr Shoesmith said.
The Youth Advisory Council, which provides input into Council decisions involving young people in Lake Macquarie, will have a stall set up for people to share their ideas on what they’d like to see in their community.
The party kicks off at noon and lasts until 5pm. Entry is free for the first 50 people aged 12-25 entry.
